Today is the first day, of a super exciting year. A brilliant day to talk about the first sustainable goodie from Krya.
So we’ve made a detergent. By powdering a fruit.
It washes really really well. In our washing machine. And in a bucket when we feel like it.
We’ve washed everything known to us with the fruit that’s a detergent. It Works.
We save tons of water per cycle – because it is a non-fussy fruit, you need to rinse just once.
And we direct all the wash water into the garden and not down the drain – it is safe because, hey, we are washing with a fruit. And our plants grow really well.
So we’ve established it is a goodie.
Now for the part that makes it a sustainable goodie:
- It is a fruit.
- It is a forest collected fruit.
- It is a forest collected fruit sourced from tribal co-operatives .
- It is a forest collected fruit sourced from tribal co-operatives bought at fair prices.
- It is a forest collected fruit sourced from tribal co-operatives bought at fair prices that is hand picked, and solar dried and processed at the Krya facility to make a detergent.
We’ve been using this fruit, which is a detergent, exclusively for 1 year to this date.

2020 update: Krya now has many many more sustainable goodies
In the 9 years since we wrote this post, Krya has grown and so have our sustainable goodies. The Krya Classic detergent now has variants like a Lemon detergent, a Palmarosa natural essential oil scented detergent and a Citriodora natural essential oil scented detergent. we also have a sustainability starter kit and a detergent subscription pack.
We now have over 100 sustainable goodies in home, skin and hair care. All our products are made from forest collected or organically cultivated herbs, organic grains, cold pressed oils and steam distilled organic essential oils.
All our sustainable goodies are made in house at Krya, by the Krya team of super women and men. Not a single chemical, preservative, additive fragrance, thickener, or any other synthetic enters any Krya product. Our products continue to be wholesome, non toxic, safe, biodegradable and compostable sustainable goodies.
